Discover the Benefits of CBD Hemp

cannabinoids CBD CBD benefits CBD flowers CBD hemp Earth and Sky Alchemy endocannabinoid system

After being banned for decades because of its relation to its notorious cousin, "Mary Jane", industrial hemp has now become federally legalized by the 2018 Farm Bill. Unlike psychoactive marijuana, hemp does not get you "high", as it contains less than 0.3% THC, the mind altering cannabinoid found in cannabis.

Hemp does contain a number of other cannabinoids (plant-produced chemical compounds), such as CBD, CBG, CBN and more than 100 others. The human body produces its own cannabinoids, known as endocannabinoids, that support our central regulatory system. The endocannabinoid system helps maintain balanced conditions within many of our interdependent biological processes. It helps regulate immune system functions, inflammatory response, body temperature, hormones, blood sugar, sleep, metabolism, emotions, stress response and more!

Endocannabinoid System Receptors in Human Body

Because we have natural receptors for these compounds in the body, the cannabinoids produced by the hemp plant are easily integrated. The most abundant cannabinoid in hemp is CBD (cannabidiol), which is why it is the main compound to become widely available once hemp was legalized. Cannabinoids attach to CB1 receptors in the brain and CB2 receptors throughout the body, sending signals telling cells what to do.

CBD activates or interacts with various receptor systems in the body. Some examples are: GPR55 receptors that regulate neuroimmune function and bone density; TRPV1 receptors that contribute to body temperature regulation and pain perception; and 5-HT1A receptors for Serotonin, a neurotransmitter that regulates mood, anxiety, sleep, temperature, appetite, bone metabolism, organ development, and much more.

CBD is also known to enhance the fatty acid neurotransmitter Anandamide, whose name comes from the Sanskrit word ananda, meaning "joy, bliss, delight". This "bliss molecule" affects higher thought processes, mood, and motivation. Anandamide's effects occur in the central or peripheral nervous system and act like an anti-depressant in the body.

Because CBD hemp has been outlawed for so long, there are only a limited number of scientific studies available, and the FDA prohibits sellers from promoting any potential medical benefits. So while we won't make any claims that CBD can heal you in any way, we will say researchers are currently exploring CBD's therapeutic properties and how it may help people with physical and psychological issues such as arthritis and joint pain, nerve pain, muscle soreness, anxiety, depression, stress, epilepsy, insomnia and other sleep problems, inflammatory diseases, autoimmune disorders, mood disorders, and much more.

These numerous potential benefits are the reason the CBD hemp industry has expanded so immensely in the short time it has become legalized. Our personal experience and those of many of our friends and family members that have been using hemp products has been overwhelmingly positive. So again, we cannot make any claims as to what CBD may do for you, but we do enthusiastically encourage you to read up on its potential benefits, ask others about their experiences, and perhaps try it for yourself.

CBD products that contain less than 0.3% THC are legal to sell, buy, and use without a prescription in all 50 states. Some states have enacted their own laws banning certain forms of hemp, such as edibles or flowers, so please check with your state to confirm what products are legal. We also recommend talking with your health care provider to determine if a CBD product could potentially cause any harmful reactions when interacting with any medicines or supplements that you use.
